Go on…admit it…we all dream about moving and living closer to the Mouse, don’t we?
Sometimes those daily daydreams aren’t enough to get us through the times in between our trips and sometimes we actually start to think what it would be like to move to Florida and live that ‘Disney’ experience everyday.
For us Brits it’s quite difficult to actually see this dream become reality. It’s tough to relocate to America permanently and definitely a big risk. For those who want a taste of the Disney cast member life there is still an opportunity but unfortunately it doesn’t allow you to work in WDW for the rest of your days! Check out the link here and have a little daydreaming Disney time
As my circle of American friends has grown over the last couple of years I have noticed just how many of them have relocated to Florida. It always seems to me like an amazingly brave thing to do and I love to hear about their journey.
One family who took this journey are the Petermanns. On June 3 2011 Amy, Craig, Kyra and Emily packed up their life in Wisconsin and made the move to Orlando, FL. Now not only did Amy share all the details of the preparations for this move on her website therelocatedtourist.com but she has continued to share the highs and lows of their relocation ever since.
I have loved reading Amy’s many posts on her family’s relocation adventure. I love the way that Amy writes so openly about her experiences; moving your life to just outside Walt Disney World means just that….you are living your LIFE just outside WDW…it’s not an extended vacation.
And Amy was the reason that I took the leap into setting up my own blog. I saw her website as an on-line diary and the more she posted the more I wanted to read. I wanted to take part in their journey; experiencing their rewards and trying times….and it gave me the desire to share my own thoughts with others. I’ve even appeared in The Relocated Tourist features Fridays with Friends and Insp’ear’ationals, my story is titled ‘A Story from the United Kingdom’.
And as I write this post tonight I cannot believe that the Petermanns have been FL residents for a year already. They continue to amaze me with their journey and I’m counting down the days until I get to meet them in the parks; it feels like I’m waiting to reunite with old friends.
If you were not already aware of The Relocated Tourist before reading this post then I urge you to read the many, many posts that Amy and her family have written. It will make you truly believe that dreams can come true; all you need is a whole heap of faith, trust and pixie dust!!!!
