Shop Disney!

As Christmas approaches the shops start stocking gifts and goodies that not only do we want to buy for others but also buy as treats for ourselves…The Disney Store is no exception!!

There’s nothing better than preparing for those cosy, winter evenings in front of the Christmas tree than by picking up a new pair of pajamas covered in a cheery seasonal print.

These leggings are currently available on The Disney Store UK website and in The Disney Store shops. There are two tops also available in similar designs but if you’re anything like me you already have several t-shirts from the parks which you can wear with them!

The adult sizes range from XXS to XL on the website, our Disney Store had sizes from XS to XL in stock. You can either buy a size to fit snugly as leggings or buy a size up to have them slightly baggier. The ankles are elasticated; meaning that even if you’re short like me you won’t be tripping over them as you walk around the house!

I really like the pattern, it’s very festive and features on other items available in the range too.

A good quality sleepwear item, and at £10 it’s a treat which will help with those winter daydreams! :)

It’s the small things….

Sometimes you can spend so much time planning your Walt Disney World visit down to the finest of details; what parks, attractions, restaurants, resort….but sometimes it can be the small things that can make your vacation extra magical.

If you stay at a Disney resort you will have come across the housekeeping staff…or ‘Mousekeeping’ as they are affectionately called by us Disney fans. They do the thankless task of keeping our rooms tidy everyday…we’re on vacation so we don’t want to even think about housework!!

Many guests leave a daily tip for their Mousekeepers and I am no exception, but I like to do something a little extra if I can. During our visit in 2010 we left a UK picture postcard with our tip everyday and this year saw me leave a decorated Disney envelope which held a Disney trading card and the tip.

Now it’s likely that you will be aware of the small phenomena that are ‘towel animals’….animals made from towels left in your room by Mousekeeping. These days you usually get a Mickey face left on your bed for your check-in day and then you may get one or two extra during your stay. In 2010 we got a duck to hold our toothbrushes and a candle as it was Christmas.

During this most recent trip we got our Mickey and a duck in the first week but that was it; I must confess that I was a little disappointed that my Disney envelopes each day hadn’t resulted in a few more….but all of that changed in the second week!!

I don’t know if we had a different Mousekeeper in the second week or whether they just had more time but boy did they go to town with our animals!!! The first afternoon we came back and saw an elephant on the bed I squealed with delight, it was BRILLIANT!!! We left the elephant sitting on the spare bed and so it began…everyday we would return to the room to be greeted by something different…our Mousekeeper’s talent was amazing and each one made us smile and laugh out loud!

I hope you enjoy taking a look at our creations….and remember…it can be the small things that bring magic to your Disney vacation :)

Thank Disney it’s Friday – November 2!

Hello daydreamers!! As promised…the Friday question is back!! :)

Following my two week trip to Walt Disney World I have loads of new questions to ask you…it feels great to give you a reason to do a little bit of daydreaming Disney at the end of the week!!

So…during my recent trip to the World I visited the new Art of Animation resort, which as you know is based on four Disney animated films….what I would like to know is….

If you were an Imagineer for a day and could add another area to the Art of Animation resort….which other Disney movie would you use as a theme and why???

But wait….there’s more…. we’re having another Daydreaming Disney giveaway!!!!! Every reader leaving a comment on ANY Friday question posed in November will be added to a prize draw. A name will be selected at random on December 1 to win a selection of goodies picked up during my trip to Walt Disney World!!!

Happy daydreaming :) :) :)

Where dreams come true….

Hello fellow Disney nerds and daydreamers…I have returned from the World!

It was a fun and exhausting two weeks spent at Walt Disney World; meeting up with old friends, having new experiences and creating Disney memories to cherish forever.

So I hope you’ll join me in the coming weeks as I share some of my stories….I’ll let you know my thoughts on the new Disney Photopass+, the Disney Dining Plan, eating at signature restaurants and of course…using Disney transportation. I’ll share how I felt about attending Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party, the Food and Wine Festival and a fun Eat To The Beat event.

I’ll share the highs….and maybe even some lows of our trip (there were a couple)!

I look forward to daydreaming Disney with you…..so for your safety, please remain seated and keep your hands, arms, feet, and legs inside the vehicle at all times……  :)

Thank Disney it’s Friday – August 31!

Good afternoon fellow daydreamers!!

There’s a chill in the air on this Friday afternoon in the UK so let’s head on over to Disney’s Animal Kingdom for some daydreaming in a park which always seems to be sunny whenever I’m there!!!

It’s lunchtime in Animal Kingdom; if you could eat at any counter service or table service restaurant right now where would you pick and why?? ……I’m paying ;)

Thanks for sharing your Disney thoughts! :) :) :)

Say “cheese”!!

I just love taking photos whilst on vacation. Since getting my first digital camera in 2010 I think I have become a ‘photographic’ nightmare!! It’s just so easy to take as many photos as you want…you can always delete the ones that you don’t want later, right??! Except that in my case I hate deleting them, even the blurry ones hold a little piece of a vacation memory!!

If you’re heading to Walt Disney World and want a few pics of you and the family during your vacation you can use the Disney Photopass service. I didn’t sign up to this concept until 2005 when I finally gave in, accepted a card from a Disney photographer and patiently posed for a few photos in front of the various park landmarks. When I returned home and accessed my Photopass account I think I had only taken about thirty photos and only two were worth ordering! But I do still love those two photos, here’s one of them:

When our 2010 WDW trip finally arrived I knew I was going to make the most of the Photopass service this time. In between these two trips Disney had introduced a pre-order package; whereby you could order a cd of all your photos before your trip at the reduced price of $99. A bargain….if you made sure that you made the most of that cd and filled it with lots of photos!!

And of course that’s what I did!! Every time I saw a Photopass photographer I was there, waving my card in front of them, preparing to strike a pose! When I returned home I was able to add borders and logos, zoom in and crop as many photos as I liked, taking the photograph total to over a hundred.

And it wasn’t until I came home and really looked at all the photos did I realise that one photographer had captured a truly magical Disney moment for me. The moment that after posing with Lotso he started talking to us about my hair…we didn’t even notice that the photographer had kept snapping away and had taken some unique photos for us:

So fast forward to 2012…I’m in mega planning mode and in January I pre-ordered this year’s photo cd. And then a few week’s later I heard rumours that something about Photopass was changing. Well, what about the money I’ve already paid over for my cd?? What if my deal wasn’t any good anymore??

Disney announced that they were introducing Photopass+, a service that would now include photos from select attractions and dining locations, but it would only be available in the parks, costing $199 at WDW. I had always thought that the attraction photos should be included with Photopass so this sounded like a good…but expensive…addition to my vacation! Disney confirmed that if you had already pre-ordered the original Photopass cd then you could upgrade to Photopass+ once you arrived at WDW, so despite protesting at the cost I knew I would end up getting it!

And then over the summer Disney released a pre-order offer for Photopass+, reducing the  cost to $169. They would even send you the additional cd of over 400 stock Disney photos before your vacation. If you had already pre-ordered the original Photopass cd you could again upgrade prior to your vacation.

So with a couple of emails and another payment I’m now the proud owner of a Photopass+ voucher ready for my trip!! And believe me, I am going to be posing for a LOT of pictures to get my money’s worth this time!!!! And of course, I can’t wait to share them with you when I get home!!! Smile and say “cheese” :)

Thank Disney it’s Friday – August 24!

Yes folks it’s Friday again….it only seems like a few days since our last question!! ;)

So it’s been an exciting week in Walt Disney World with the ‘Be Our Guest’ ADR booking window opening….if you were one of the guests trying to get through I hope you had success! :)

I think we should have a relaxing stroll down Main Street USA and answer this week’s Friday question….

We’re in Magic Kingdom for rope drop and the park has just opened….which attraction shall we ride first today….and of course, why???

Thanks for joining in and happy daydreaming :) :) :)

Dream Along With Emma!

I am so excited to share ‘Dream Along With Emma‘, a new series of posts featuring friends from the Disney community.

Over the coming months I’ll be asking Disney friends to share their thoughts on Walt Disney World; and how their work, hobbies or special interests can influence how they daydream about our favourite place.

And to launch this series I have an extra special interview with a very special guest. Last week I had the privilege of chatting to the great LOU MONGELLO from WDW Radio about how his work and his passion affects his own daydreaming Disney.

Click here to LISTEN to the very first ‘Dream Along With Emma‘ interview :)

Thank Disney it’s Friday – July 27!

Well Friday is here yet again and what a wonderful week it has been. The sun has been shining throughout our first birthday celebrations!!

This week’s extra special Friday question is going to get you using your imagination….and remember…as with all daydreaming…the sky’s the limit! ;)

If you could hold a birthday party anywhere on Walt Disney World property (any park, resort, attraction) where would you choose and what would be your party theme?

The only restriction is that you CANNOT use Cinderella Castle…well, I had to make it a little more difficult, didn’t I?!

Now all good birthday parties come with presents don’t they? So to celebrate Daydreaming Disney’s first birthday we’ll be having our first GIVEAWAY on the blog!!!! Everyone who leaves an answer in the comments section below has a chance of winning. A name will be chosen at random and the winner of our first Daydreaming Disney prize will be announced next week!!!

Thanks to everyone for sharing your daydreams….more giveaways coming soon   :) :)

It’s our first birthday!!!

Well here it is…I’ve been sharing my daydreams with you all for ONE WHOLE year!!!! :)

On July 24 2011 I launched Daydreaming Disney with my first ever blog post and it certainly has been a journey into the unknown!

The past year has seen me learn a lot about writing. My fellow bloggers may recognise what it’s like when the theme for the next blog post just doesn’t seem to appear in your mind or when you sit down to write and the words just don’t want to form sentences! But we keep going and each comment left by a reader makes you want to write again and again.

Over the last year I have shared over 70 posts with you all and have had over 7,000 visits to the site. My regular posts have continued to share a variety of my daydreams and thoughts about Disney whilst living here in the UK. Part way through the year I launched the ‘Thank Disney it’s Friday‘ question; which continues to encourage you all to have a little daydreaming time at the end of the week.

So I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who visits the site, reads my posts, comments and shares my daydreams with others. I have made some wonderful friends over the last year thanks to sharing my love of Disney through this blog and have discovered many other great Disney blogs along the way.

Over the next few days I’ll be looking back over some of the older posts, announcing a few new features to the blog and publishing an extra special Friday question.

Don’t forget…whether you are 1 mile or 4,000 miles from Walt Disney World always keep Daydreaming Disney!!!! ;)

I’d like to thank Gordon for allowing me to use one of his recent WDW photos as my birthday image, you can check out his blog here
