Well the weather here in the UK has been so strange this week; high humidity, clouds and rain. It reminded me of summer afternoons in Walt Disney World, just without the ponchos and Disney spirit!!!
I found myself daydreaming about water in the parks this week so here’s your Friday question………..
Splash Mountain or Kali River Rapids…..which ‘wet’ attraction do you prefer and of course why???
And…here’s a bonus question….the wearing of ponchos on water rides…..yes or no???

After all this time going to WDW, I’ve never been on either! This will be the year for Splash though! And, I won’t be wearing a poncho.
Never??!!
LOL, I know, I know.
Ooh Kali because it a bit like roulette, wet or dry, some times you ride it without hardly a drip , other times you would have been drier if you jumped in to the sea.
Ok with concept of ponchos on wet rides, its about planning, if your gonna do something later and cant totally be wet eg in a hours time have an ADR and its not hot enough to completely dry you off then wear a poncho, if you have all day at the park and its warm then just go for it and leave the poncho
Oooh, yes…I’d forgetton about some people staying dry on Kali whilst others get a soaking!!
if my objective is to just get wet and laugh at other people getting soaked, then Kali. However, for overall ride enjoyment and show elements, its gotta be Splash.
And defo no ponchos
Love the soaking on Kali!!!
Have we even BEEN on Kali? I don’t remember it
Perhaps you didn’t get soaked!!
Splash Mountain, definitely, poncho-less. Love, love, love that ride! (Almost as much as Tower of Terror
)
Uh oh, another sudden drop ride
I love, love, love Splash Mountain. The queue, going through the Briar Patch, the music, the little rabbit on the front of the log! Kali is good, but it’s a relatively short ride and as others have said, you may get SO wet that you have to plan to ride only at the end of your day. Oh… NO ponchos!
Love the Splash Mountain music
I’m a west coaster who’s never been to WDW, so I can’t be a fair judge on the first part, but…
As for the subject of ponchos, while I personally refuse to wear one (getting wet is half the fun!), I get the need for those with small children.
Totally agree Craig!!
So I prefer Kali River Rapids because I love all the bumping and that unknown of splashing!! Love the big dip where it’s usually the person going backwards that gets covered!!
And for me it’s definitely no ponchos, if the attraction has a sign that says “you WILL get wet” I’m all for it!!!
I prefer Splash Mountain, as it’s longer with more of an actual story line, but Kali rapids is fun too!! No ponchos on rides I always thought that was silly ha!!
Splash for me, it’s classic Disney and has so many elements, the story, it’s relaxing, it has a thrill element, catchy music, plenty to look at, the only thing I’m not a fan of is that weird smell you get on your hands from the padding in the log lol
No ponchos but as I’m not a fan of walking round soaked I don’t do Splash and Kali every trip, so although I could wear a poncho, ride and stay dry I’m even less of a fan of carrying stuff round the parks lol, although I do like standing on the bridge at Kali and trying to soak other people lol
easily splash, you dont get sooo disgustingly wet and i love the story, and always a poncho, the camera and mickey ears need protection
